The Art of Radiant Living

Evolution is a hallmark to life. One of the greatest resources you have available to support your individual evolution is tuning into you body and subtler bodies, which are inseparable from your soul.

In connecting to your body, you may connect to your soul and open to your unlimited source of energy. Famous poet William Blake said:

“Man has no Body distinct from his Soul for that called Body is a portion of Soul discerned by the 5 senses, the chief inlets of Soul in this age…Energy is the only life and is from the Body, and Reason is the bound or outward circumference of Energy…Energy is Eternal Delight.”

The body speaks through its own language—breath, energy, sensation, movement. By learning to bring awareness into the subtler aspects of your being, you may open yourself to “free energy” that perpetually renews you, increase your health, find greater mastery of self, and live more radiantly from your heart’s center. From this center of radiance begets a greater inspiration for carrying out a meaningful mission in life or supporting your family and tribe at a deeper level.

Perhaps few ancient texts other than The Vijnana Bhairava Tantra expound the essential qualities of human nature and our divine inheritance of greater joy, bliss, and radiance. Written in Sanskrit, The Vijnana Bhairava Tantra is essentially an encyclopedia of yogic techniques that support all paths of transformation. Each “sutra” or scripture evokes a sense of wholeness and connection to divine principles that govern our everyday experience.

The  ancient, timeless, and universal meditations in this text have been revered by the great sages of tantra and provide a way into the universal realization of divine embodiment. Through our human waking life, the very common experiences we can often take for granted—breathing, tasting, seeing, sleeping, and making love—can become channels for realizing our truly blissful nature and experiencing radiance throughout life.

These early tantric lineages knew of the quantum wave long before modern physics has made its proclamation of quantum mechanics and quantum reality. Herein contains the realization of the body and its subtler aspects as gateways into ecstatic experience—the skin as a subtle boundary that contains the vastness of infinity as the breath becomes more conscious and calls forth a rhythm of cosmic adoration. And the recognition that meditation is really just an intimacy with what you love about life, our chosen invitation to experience a more forthright attention to the mystery of being alive.

Just reading these sutras affects a greater harmonization of all the elements and levels of your being while deepening the connection to universal energies in life. May this sutra—from Dr. Lorin Roche’s interpretation of this text in his The Radiance Sutras (originally published in 1993 as Subtle Bodies)—bring more awareness to the wisdom available to each of us at every moment and set a tone for the contributions of Luminous Possibilities members laid out in this eBook. As you read a transliterated phonetic version of this Sanskrit scripture in Roman letters (aloud), notice what changes subtly in your experience:

daaman-antah kshobha-sam-bhootah sookshma-agnih tilaka-akritim

bindum shikhaante hridaye layaante dhyaayatah layah

When you close your eyes,

Attention turns toward the inner glow.

The heart sees by its own light,

Pulsing with subtle flame.

In your forehead is a single eye.

Here streams of living electricity

Flow together.

The body of substance

And the body of light fuse into one.

Above your head a star is shining—

The soul, luminous in its own realm.

Life arises from itself

In a swirling motion of flame.

Being becomes body.

In meditation, adore the subtle fire—

In heart, head, and above.

Dissolve into radiance.
